Here is a list of all the movies I watched in 2005, that I can remember:
The Ladykillers
Mullholland Drive
King Kong
Rent
Ran
Kung Fu Hustle
Miller's Crossing
Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz
Serenity
My neighbor Totoro
War of the Worlds
National Treasure
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
Blood Simple
Batman Begins
Lost In Translation
The Yes Men
Waking Life
The hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Madagascar
Dogtown and Z-Boys
Primer
Star Wars: Episode III
Election
Kiki's Delivery Service
Barry Lyndon
Rushmore
I'm sure I'm forgetting a few. Amazing I can't even get myself to read half the number of books. Gotta work on that. Sure is an odd cross-section of genres. A few I wouldn't have watched if the kid hadn't rented or coerced me into the theater (Madagascar, for example) and some I saw on my own accord and later (and sometimes cough*Sith*cough DURING) regretted watching.
Even more interesting are the omissions, so many films I wanted to watch, but for one reason or another didn't catch in the theaters:
Sin City
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Corpse Bride
The Brothers Grimm
Wallace & Gromit in the The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Good Night and Good Luck
March of the Penguins
Mirrormask (no close theaters)
Luckily, most of these are on DVD already. Love those short DVD release cycles.
Lastly, I think I'll might get to these before the end of 2005, or at least before they leave the theaters:
The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Memoirs of a Geisha
The Producers
Syriana
Munich
Damn, maybe this should be a movie review page. Not like there's enough of those already.
