Don't call it a PowerBook, either. Apple has decided to drop the oblique reference to the PowerPC processor in their new, Intel-based
PowerBooks uh, laptops. Can't say I like the name "MacBook Pro", but there is a lot to like about the model itself: speed, speed, speed. There are some goodies, too. Like the built-in iSight camera, and the super-trick non-destructive detaching power cord. Considering the number of power supplies I've been through, I'd really appreciate this magnetically-attached connector so that I don't damage the
PowerBook (damnit)
MacBook or the power cord. Don't actually know how fast Rosetta will run on it, or if the rumors are true that Windows will run on it, but it's definitely a step in the right direction. I'll be looking at this when the first revision comes out.
Oh, and there's an
intel iMac, also. But, like I care. Where's the mac mini with an intel processor and Front Row? I want to turn it in to a media hub that can record and play back HD.
I didn't look to closely at the new iLife '06 suite yet, but I'll have to see what the deal is with this iWeb.
Oh, and it looks like I was right: there are NO INTEL STICKERS on the new macs. Some people didn't believe me, but I just couldn't see how Jobs would destroy the purity of the design with a holographic "intel inside!" sticker. This isn't Dell, people!
